Event Info

The 2022 Western National Event will be held on Monday, Nov 7th and Tuesday, Nov 8th at the Sevier County fairground in Richfield, Utah

  • We invite teams or individuals from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, or Montana to register and participate.  Registration is due by Oct 26, 2022.
  • The registration fee:
    • 5 team members + Advisor = $100
    • Individuals = $20

Award will include plaques, the silver belt buckle for the top hand and an array of prizes.

  • Event Materials – Find the contest’s event manual, participant waiver form, rules, set-up guide, and more. 
  • Tentative schedule of events for participants and advisors (times are Mountain Standard Time)
    • Monday, November 7th
      • 2:00-5:00 pm   CDE Training/Practice Site (directions will be sent to teams)
      • 6:00 pm            Light Dinner (provided – at fairgrounds)
      • 6:30 pm           Pick-up Packets & Contest Overview
      • 7:00 pm           Tips for Success in Rangeland CDE
      • 7:15 pm           Stocking Rate and Management Recommendations (Part 1A)
      • 7:15 pm          Coaches Meeting
      • 7:40 pm           Current Rangeland Issue Scenario (Part 1B)
      • 8:05 pm          Review Tomorrow’s Schedule & Answer Questions
      • 8:15 pm          Teams head to lodging to get some rest.
    • Tuesday, November 8th
      • 8:00 am             Teams leave fairgrounds & travel to event site
      • 9:00-11:30 am  Plant Identification (Part 2),  Site Description (Part 3), Rangeland Assessment (Part 4) and Rangeland Ecosystem Measurements (Part 5)
      • 12:30 pm           Catered Awards Lunch (provided)
      • 2:00pm             CDE Complete – Travel Home
