The 2023 Western National Event will be held on Monday, Nov 13th and Tuesday, Nov 14th near Ritzville, Washington.
- We invite individuals from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, or Montana to register and participate. Registration is due by Oct 27, 2023.
- The registration fee:
- Individuals and Additional Assistants = $20
Award will include plaques, the silver belt buckle for the top hand and an array of prizes.

- Five Washington Plants will be added to the Plant Identification list. (Plant List of all 65 plants).
- Thurber’s Needlegrass (Achnatherum thurberianum)
- Wax Currant (Ribes cereum)
- Snowbrush Ceanothus (Ceanothus velutinus)
- Dalmatian Toadflax (Linaria dalmatica)
- Yellow Star-thistle (Centaurea solstitialis)
- Changes for 2023:
- Height Weight Method Utilization Estimate as described in the handbook will be used.
- Utilization gauges can be purchased from the University of Colorado Bookstore or can be made using the template on page 97 of the Utilization Studies and Residual Measurements handbook.
